1 〔さびで動かなくなる〕 be rusted fast [shut, together]; 〔さびる〕 rust; rust over; become rusty.

●さびついた刀 a rusted [rusty] sword.

●海が近いのですぐ金物がさびつく. Because of the proximity of the ocean things made from metal soon get rusty.

2 〔うまく機能しなくなる〕 become rusty.
